In response to: CBS Podcast with Matt Hinton
Having recently listened to the linked podcast, I have to voice my displeasure with SMQ’s own Matt Hinton. There were many inaccuracies in both the podcast and the written post but my main disappointment comes from hearing that he admittedly watched very little, if any, of the games of some of the listed teams.
It's difficult to take a writer serious who claims to be providing insight about a team yet can’t even name the division the team is in (Ball State is NOT in the MAC East division), doesn’t know the number of games the team has played (Central Florida is 2-1 NOT 3-1), and uses a NCAAB term when writing about football (mid-major is a basketball term).
It’s great that someone is trying to shed some recognition on these overlooked teams, but I’m not sure whether halfhearted attempts like this one hurt more than they help. Using derogatory terms like undercard, certainly seems counterproductive.
Just calling it like I see it.
