SEC Week: Everybody Know You Pay For What You Get

New, 6 comments

Nothing made news in the SEC, or anywhere else, quite so much this offseason as Nick Saban’s staggering, record-breaking contract with Alabama, which proved the Tide will not rest until its rolled back into perennial championship contention, etc. Saban saved LSU from the DiNardo and turned it into a lasting power, and for that he's instantly regarded as the most feared boss in the league.

How many other successful coaches could ‘Bama have bought itself with the same dough? And what kind of value is it getting in Don Nicky compared to the rest of the SEC?

Including Saban, from his five years at LSU, eight SEC coaches come into the season with winning league records over their careers. Given the resume of each, see if you can match the base salary to the coach. Some answers might be tougher than you think:

  $1,050,000    • $1,450,000    • $1,710,000    • $1,750,000

  • $2,050,000     • $2,230,000     • $3,250,000     • $4,000,000
